European Nursing Congress 2010: Older persons the future of care
In the coming decades, nurses face enormous challenges. A growing population of older people will rely on care. Our current healthcare system is ill prepared for this. Also, nurses and carers will have to adapt to this development. Indeed, the specific healthcare demands of the elderly are a challenge especially for this profession
That is why our congress is titled Older persons: the future of care. Nurses from all over Europe, but also from countries like Canada, Australia, Japan, USA, and from all fields of healthcare, share best practices and research findings.
Some of the key themes are: *Care for older persons in 2025, *Social participation of older persons, *Patient health and safety, *Dementia care, *Manpower issues and the labor market, *Use of technology, *Attitudes towards ageing, *Palliative care, *Informal care, *Ethics, *Management and Leadership, *Education and training of nurses.
Also part of the congress are the 14th Research Congress of the Workgroup European Nurse Researchers, and the Flemish Dutch Nursing Science Congress. Participants can visit over 400 presentations.
